Winemaker's Comment
Winemaker´s Comment: With the cool 2013 weather, we have produced a Viognier that is much closer to Condrieu than to California. Our vineyard produces Viognier with atypically high acid levels for California, and 2013 enhanced this even further. A crisp, focused Viognier that presents its minerality and spice notes foremost, with sweet fruit behind. Vintage: 2013 in the Santa Rita Hills started with warm weather in the Spring which continued on through harvest. From March through November, area temperatures were above average, and precipitation was below average. There were no problematic heat spikes and days with frost were numbered below average. The only negative pressure came from drought, but thankfully the Zotovich Vineyard has it's own deep well water source. Your favourite recipe for this wine: We like to marinate quail overnight in a mixture of Viognier, with a dash of soy, a bit of honey, pepper and dried fennel. Grilled or fried, served with couscous or wild rice and Viognier.
Presse
VINOUS, Josh Raynolds: 91 Punkte "Bright, green-tinged yellow. High-pitched citrus and pit fruit aromas are deepened by notes of honey and toasted grain. Sappy and penetrating on the palate, offering rich, vibrant nectarine and orange flavors touched by honeysuckle. Finishes spicy and long, with a jolt of chalky minerals and building floral character." The Wandering Wino Blog Top Wines of 2014 Wine That Will Blow Up Your Skirt This is my annual post for what I call, "Wines that will blow up your skirt." No scores here. These are simply wines that were in my glass at some point in the past year, and I hope to drink them again. I do not include wines like the vintage Grand Cru Bordeaux, or some library vintage, but wines that are (mainly) available and price approachable (many under $45).These are the wines that are well worth buying, drinking, and wines that one would be proud to bring to a party. At the end of the day, if it's a great wine, who cares the score. Just drink it! 2013 Zotovich Viognier Sta Rita Hills CA ist auf seiner Liste dieser "Weine des Jahres" ܜber Zotovich: Wine Country This Week über Zotovich Lompoc not Glam, but it's Wines are Divine Orange County Register Cool Trend.
