The concentrated non-vintage The Tawny 22 Year Old was aged 22 years in small oak and larger hogshead barrels. It offers a medium amber color along with explosive aromas and flavors of scorched earth, honey, molasses, toffee, caramel, and orange marmalade. It, too, is a brillant fortified."

(Abgefüllt Mai 2004) Ein komplizierter Mix von Aromen bildet das vollkommene Gegenstück für die dickflüssige süsse Saftigkeit. Brombeerstrauch, Teer, Honig, Steinfrüchte und Tee, mit einer distinktiven rauchigen, sauren Note, die die altsüße Masse des Weins kontrapunktiert. Etwas von dem Material ist jetzt über 30 Jahren alt und ist als Blend von Verdelho, Grenache, Shiraz, Touriga, weißer Muskatellertraube und Palomina (und anderen) tadellos verwoben. Winemaker´s Comment:

The  22 year old Tawny is a blend of many years (Solera System) with some of the older stock going back to the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.
Many grape varieties, both white and red have been fortified with neutral grape spirit before aging in barrels and then blended to produce this Tawny.
The longer the wine ages is barrel the more oxidation takes place and the more character and flavour the wine develops. Flavours that are expected in this 22 year old Tawny are Butterscotch Rancio flavours toffee caramelised sugars sweetness and warm alcohol finish.

Each of these individual fortified wines have been left to rest and mature untouched for many years. My job was to find them all and blend together to generate a wonderful combination of flavours.
