Beschreibung

"The 2019 Groundwork Grenache Blanc is one of America's most distinctive wines" - (Alfred Wong)

Curt sagt: Notes of green apple, lemon pez, peach iced tea, whetstone, and grapefruit topo chico. A crisp warm weather wonder

Winemaker´s Comment:
Groundwork is all about the fundamentals. Putting to use the empirical knowledge Curt has gained from making wine for his first label, Sans Liege. He seeks to bring his experience to a new set of wines that embrace the soul and simple living of the Rhone. Groundwork is built upon comfort and confidence as a winemaker, trusting in the fruit, the vineyards and his own rich experience as he guides you on this mystery tour.

Vineyard(s): Kopak and Last Frontier
Two choice sites are selected and picked on the early side of ripeness to keep this one zingy. Kopack and Last Frontier are two of the most respected vineyards in Paso for this often overlooked white Rhone variety. The grapes are cold settled prior to fermentation and a relatively quick and painless ferment occurs in stainless steel tank. It is left to settle for 5 months prior to being racked to bottle.
Appellation: Paso Robles

Soil Type: Calcareous Marl

Barrique? Nein, Élevage 6 Monate in Edelstahltanks.
Winemaking: "100% tank fermented clean under glycol. Malolactic conversion arrested after primary fermentation completed."

Other Notes:
Serving Recommendation: Chill in refrigerator 20 min, twist cap and quaff. Cheers!
Aging Potential: 3-5 years.

TASTING NOTES:
"The 2019 Groundwork Grenache Blanc is one of America's most distinctive wines. TASTING NOTES: This wine shows up with savory spices, dried citrus, and dried earth in its aromas and flavors. Pair it with longneck clam sashimi with thinly-sliced scallions and follow that up with fresh salmon handrolls."(Tasted: May 16, 2020, San Francisco, CA)
