Denner Viognier 2018 - AUSVERKAUFT -

Üppig, intensiv, auch etwas floral mit Jasmin, Orangenblüten, Grapefruit und Mandel. Dazu Briôche, Ananas, Guave, Limette und Honig. Dennoch wird Süße zugunsten zitrisch-mandeliger Frische vermieden, und eine hintergründige Mineralität versteckt sich geschickt hinter dem leicht vanilligen Viognier-Bouquet. Das seriöse Barrique fordert ein größeres Glas und umspannt einen Wein, der momentan (2022) am zweiten Tag ganz groß und irgendwie mächtiger wirkt als am ersten. Zitroneneis, Jasmin, Honig, Blumen und eine satte Frucht mit verführerischer Würze. Kein Tomboy, sondern ein Boss Babe!

Gern karaffieren und kühlen, aber nicht allzu kalt aus Hermitage- oder Burgundergläsern genießen.

Winemakers comments: Brightly pitched aromas of white peach, orange peel, flint and yellow rose make a bold introduction to this complex white wine. Flavors of Casaba melon, kaffir lime, and shortbread intermingle on the rich and creamy mid-palate. Bright acidity quickly balances the intensity of the flavors, providing a zippy, long, and refreshing finish.
Vintage notes: Despite the challenges that spring frosts and summer heat brought early in 2018, the harvest season lined up almost perfectly. With warm, sunny days and cool evenings. Yields were slightly below average, and flavors were intense. The resulting wines are vibrant, rich and incredibly textural.

There's a slight haze in the glass on this bottling, which begins with aromas ranging from ripe peach to zingy lime, with hints of lemon and grapefruit zest. Denner Vineyards Viognier 2018 Review This lemony Voignier sets the new standard of style in California for this grape. It has a great perception of mineral-driven wet rock (like after a rainstorm). This lighter style allows you to enjoy the well-known more floral and orange peel notes without them being all up in your face. It reminds me of a sunny afternoon in the backyard with a big plate of roasted vegetables covered with crumbled salty cojita cheese and drizzled with olive oil. (94)
