Andis Wines Di Stasio Vineyard Old Vine Zinfandel Reserve 2020

Dieser 100% Zinfandel in der Reserve-Version mit 18 Monaten Fassreife riecht expressiv nach Kirschen, reifer Brombeere, Schlehe und etwas Zeder. Am Gaumen Blaubeeren und Brombeeren ohne Ende, das Ganze mit deutlich italienischem Akzent – der Wein hat einen tollen Druck, wirkt frisch und in keinster Weise breit. Dazu sehr schöne reife Tannine, etwas Schoko und feine Würze. Die schwarzen und blauen Früchte sind sehr schön pur und gehen eher in Richtung kühler Fruchtschale als Richtung Marmelade. Uns gefiel der Andis super zur Pasta mit Fenchelbratwurst, Steinpilzen und Sommerkräutern, was sich überraschenderweise beides als 100% tauglich für unseren Sommer-Lunch im Garten erwies.

Planted in 1960, Di Stasio Vineyard is an old vine Zinfandel vineyard that we are proud to be working with. What makes this vineyard a true icon of the California Shenandoah Valley AVA are its unique soils ranging from decomposed granite to sandy loam, and its dry farming head-trained method, which leads to low yields.

Winemaker´s Comment:
2020 Di Stasio Vineyard is 100% varietal and has a great nose of red and blue fruits, flowery incense, candied violets, and brambly herbs. Medium to full-bodied and nicely textured, with remarkable purity of fruit as well as ripe tannins, drink bottles any time over the coming 4-10 years.

Vintage notes: The Sierra Foothills region's warm weather signaled an early start to the season, followed by a mild summer with only one or two heat spells. Berries were small, with concentrated flavors, which led to lower yields of Zinfandel, especially from the older vineyards. The fruit retained its acidity, and the Phenological ripeness was excellent, leading to fully flavored wines at lower Brix. I think 2020 will be one of our best vintages of the last decade, and the wines will be age-worthy up to 10 years.

Reserve Old Vine Zinfandel (Sierra Foothills)
This is a big red wine that's not overly bold or boisterous about it. Concentrated aromas and flavors bring forth notes of black cherry, chocolate, boysenberry, plum, clove, toasted wood, black tea, fennel fronds, cinnamon stick and cola. Tannins are firm, grippy, adding textural integrity; a pleasant acidity ensure freshness from start to finish.
