KINERO "In Vain" Old Vine White 2021

Rarität von ganz alten Rebstöcken. Zitrone, weiße Blüten wie Geißblatt und subtile Vanilla Planifolia-Blüten, dazu Pfirsich. Am Gaumen nussig und frisch zugleich. Wieder Blüten. Fließt dann über in Honig, Limette und frisch Gebackenes zu einer leichten, zitrischen Mineralität hin, bevor wieder die Frucht und ein walnussiger Hauch von Barrique das Finish einläuten. Ein anspruchsvoller, großer Weißer von einigen der besten alten Reben der Central Coast.

White blend of 40-120-year-old vines. Viognier, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chenin Blanc. In Vain explodes from the glass with brightly pitched aromas of lemon zest, white peach, fresh rosemary, and flint. The palate is densely packed with flavors of pomelo, fennel pollen, toasted brioche, and briny green olives. Bottled two weeks prior to my tasting, the 2021 In Vain Old Vine White Blend is made up of 31% Viognier, 31% Chardonnay, 19% Chenin Blanc and 19% Sauvignon Blanc and was matured for 10 months in 20% new oak. It features white peach on the nose with accents of flint, dried herbs and peppery touches. The palate is medium-bodied, textural and refreshing with savory, yeasty fruits and a long, pleasantly grippy finish that will allow this to work very well at the table. It comes from vines aged 40-120 years old and was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
