M5 Red Rhône Blend 2019

Sowohl zu Burgern, zu Steaks als auch zu defitigen Eintöpfen eine sichere Bank.

Im Glas offenbart der M5 eine funkelnd granatrote Farbe. Im Bouquet dominieren intensive Noten von Pflaumen, Brombeeren, etwas Cassis und leichte Röstaromen, dabei schon in der Nase etwas kühler mit leichtem Lift.

Am Gaumen zeigt sich der Wein sehr saftig mit straffer Textur. Ein vollmundiger, schön ausbalancierter Wein, aber kein Schwergewicht. Kühle Aromatik zum Auftakt, mit Heidelbeeren, Maulbeeren und Brombeeren, das Barrique schon gut intergriert, ein Hauch von Kakaonibs, der mit dem Mourvèdre zu tun haben könnte. Der M5 wurde mit nur 0,8 Gramm Restzucker auf die Flasche gebracht, was man ihm wenig anmerkt, die Frucht ist frisch und reif. Auch die gut 14 Volumenprozente trägt er harmonisch, der Wein hat einen eher mittleren bis vollen Körper, ist also kein Blockbuster. Druckvoll und vielschichtig präsentiert sich dieser an einen Chataeuneuf erinnernde Rotwein mit geradezu klassischen Proportionen.

Haltbarkeit: While fruit driven and accessible now, the M5 red is structured due to the low yields, the varietals typicity themselves and because of the 25% stem inclusion (whole-cluster fermentation) in the wines. The M5 will provide several years of great drinking and will easily age gracefully over the next 7-10 years.

Winemakers comments:

Color:

Opaque with dense crimson and deepness.
Aroma:

Red fruits, dried cranberries and jammy, youthful fruits come immediately to the fore, with perfumed Grenache and rose petal floral aromas..
Palate: A solid core of dark red fruit and spicy fruit surrounded by youthful tannins. The overlying presence of Grenache flavors initially impact the palate, followed by a finish complete with hints of jam, cocoa and dark berry contributions of Syrah and earthy Mourvèdre.

Vintage notes:

2019 was an outstanding vintage. It was a very cold winter and a very mild spring and summer leading to slow maturation and long hang times for increased complexities. Harvest was much later in the summer which allows us to harvest under kinder cooler conditions – there were essentially no heat spikes which tend to cause drama and we have a no drama policy.
